Greenwatt Rural Energy
Assessment of Renewable Energy Options for Farmers and Landowners
Renewables offer both an income opportunity and a cost saving. The introduction of Feed In Tariffs (FiTs) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) have opened up the opportunities for commercial and domestic users to take advantage of renewable energy to save costs and gain an income. A range of technologies can be used to generate electricity, heat or both. The main renewables for consideration are: Wind, Solar, Biomass, Anaerobic Digestion and Hydropower.
With a bewildering array of options available, the biggest decision for a landowner is in selecting the right technology, or combination of technologies, at the right scale for their particular site and needs.
To assist in this process, we offer independent, site specific assessments for landowners, farmers and other businesses to establish what resources are available, what the current energy requirements are and what renewable options would best meet requirements and maximise the return on investment.
How we can help
The Energy Audit
An independent assessment of the renewable options available and the likely returns on investment. The farmer and landowner can be sure that they have all the information needed to make better, informed decisions on the way forward. The Energy Audit is therefore the first stage of any plans or thoughts.
Part 1
A quick desk top assessment based on information sent to us by the farmer and landowner using a simple questionnaire or information received through a phone call – this will allow us to assess the potential of any proposals (no charge)
Part 2
An on-site assessment of the renewable options. We would include some initial financial calculations to assist in business planning and financial forecasting. (We would charge for direct travel and time costs – agreed in advance)
Part 3
Implementing the project. If, following the audit, the decision is taken to implement the project, Greenwatt Rural Energy are able to work with the farmer or landowner at each stage – reviewing and selecting appropriate suppliers, assisting in the planning process, producing appropriate business plans and financial forecasts and overseeing any construction work. Again, charges would be agreed up front and are related to the time involved and the complexity of the work needed.
