Renewable Energy News
Government announces a Renewable Heat Incentive which will stimulate the market in renewable heat by guaranteeing a payment for 20 years for renewable heat production..
Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) became available in Great Britain on 1st April 2010. FITs are an incentive scheme available to those who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar electircity ( PV) panels or wind turbines. There is a guaranteed minimum payment for all electricity generated by the system, as well as a separate payment for the electricity exported to grid. These payments are in addition to the savings made by using the electricity that is generated.
The Government has recently announced changes to allow Local Authorities to receive income from FITs. Another change is a microgeneration strategy to encourage householders, communities and small businesses to adopt smaller scale renewable energy schemes.
