Farmers, Landowners and Rural Businesses
Renewables can offer both an income opportunity and a cost saving for farmers.
The Government has recently confirmed its support for renewable electricity production through Feed-In Tariffs (FITs) incentives - and has announced a similar support programme for renewable heat – the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to be introduced in June 2011. These two programmes, coupled with the opportunity for biomethane-to-grid connectivity, have opened up significant opportunities for farmers and landowners to invest in renewable energy technologies - with very good prospects for a sound return on investment.
A range of technologies can be used to generate electricity, heat and power including wind, solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, thermal pumps, biomass, anaerobic digestion and hydropower.
To make future business and investment decisions, landowners, farmers and other rural businesses will look for independent advice on renewable energy options, how the Government incentives will operate and how rural businesses might benefit from getting involved.
How we can help:
- The Energy Audit - to identify options
- On-site assessment - to clarify the potential and assess the return on investment
- Project implementation – business planning and financial forecasting, identification of suppliers, assistance with the planning process, grant applications, and support during installation
